BAHIA

BAHIA SOFTWARE is a technology company founded in 1999 and specialized in the health sector. The catalogue of services and products offered by BAHIA SOFTWARE covers the whole life cycle of software development from consulting services in specific technologies to the development of corporate information systems and including highly experienced teams in Interoperability and systems integration or data analytics.

BAHIA SOFTWARE activities demand a high knowledge of interoperability, the adoption of international standards and a deep understanding of health systems and eHealth technologies. To fulfil future demands of health systems. The company has an Innovation department carrying out R&D projects related with advanced techniques and technologies, such as the digitalization of samples from biobanks, the integration of Genomic data into Electronic Health record Systems, and platforms for telemedicine that integrate different silos of information.

Some of the challenges that BAHIA SOFTAWARE usually faces at hospitals (different standards, research and clinical data integration, storage capacity optimization, etc.) will be also faced in EUCAIM. As part of the EUCAIM consortium, BAHIA SOFTWARE will share its knowledge and experience about the use of opensource solutions for the management of complex data, such as imaging, structured clinical data, genomics, transcriptomics, etc.

Some of the challenges everyday raised by clinicians are also among the top priorities of EUCAIM like the following:

1) the creation of a platform integrating information from different sources (images, clinical data and metadata)

2) The promotion of international standards regarding interoperability and connectivity

3) The optimization of data storage

4) high robustness and maximum levels of cybersecurity

5) the combination of data obtained from different sources

6) the definition of corporate software solutions that can grow in line with the internal evolution of the organization, facilitating the incorporation of new functionalities and algorithms.

BAHIA SOFTWRE will significantly contribute to all these demands maximizing the knowledge and experience gained along the years and developing new tools based on R&D activities in close collaboration with EUCAIM researchers.

Role of institution in the project

BAHIA SOFTWARE will provide its experience in interoperability and the management of complex data, and is mainly involved in the following WPs:

WP2: Technical members of the engagement team. Assistance to data providers.

WP4: Integration of access to processing solutions and execution environments of WP6 to increase the quality and level of information of the data.

WP5: Definition of the Common Data Model, development of data toolsets. Support on the definition of procedures to join EUCAIM.

WP6: Analytical data exploitation tool, allowing the sharing of common protocols for the study of specific features of the data.
