On 2 July 2025, the European Commission released its much-anticipated EU Life Sciences Strategy, setting a clear path toward global leadership in health and biomedical innovation. The strategy underscores the critical role of biomedical research, health data, and artificial intelligence in transforming healthcare systems and boosting Europe’s innovation capacity.
This landmark initiative directly supports the goals of EUCAIM. As a flagship project of the European Health Data Space and a pillar of the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, EUCAIM is well-positioned to help realize the Commission’s vision.
With its focus on secure, federated access to cancer imaging data and AI-based innovation, EUCAIM contributes directly to the priorities outlined in the strategy — enhancing research capabilities, fostering cross-border collaboration, and accelerating the uptake of digital technologies in healthcare.
Key goals of the strategy include:
🔹 Unlocking the potential of health data and AI
🔹 Strengthening Europe’s leadership in biomedical imaging
🔹 Advancing infrastructure, trust, and digital skills
🔹 Driving faster innovation uptake and industrial growth
We welcome this strategy as a clear endorsement of EU-level efforts like EUCAIM, which aim to bridge research, healthcare, and innovation for the benefit of all Europeans.
