Role of institution in the project

WP7 – Use cases for platform expansion and validation

The first breast cancer screening (BCS) activity held in Portugal consisted of a pilot-test conducted by the LPCC in 18 counties from 1986 to June 1990. With almost 40 years of activity, the LPCC has technical and scientific expertise as well as unique experience in this area of preventive medicine. It has had a significant digital mammography database (PACS) (since 2008) with radiological classification (BIRADS) and hospital diagnosis and treatment results. In 2024, a pilot project was started to introduce AI into the radiology reading process, with a retrospective and prospective study.
