S2 Grupo

S2 Grupo is a European cybersecurity and critical information infrastructure protection company based in Spain and managed by an engineering and expert team whose mission is to help society and its stakeholders to mitigate the new technological and cyber risks. Currently, S2 Grupo is a leading company in the security industry, developing a significant part of its work in 7 countries of Europe and Latin America and providing managed security services to private and public organizations, including several governmental CERTs.

Role of institution in the project

With wide experience in providing managed security to different companies and public institutions in different countries, as well as in developing its own cybersecurity solutions for monitoring, alert management, Threat Hunting, etc., S2 Grupo’s contribution to the project will focus mainly on data governance and cybersecurity preserving in all stages of data’s lifecycle. This includes advanced data anonymization and GDPR compliance, data population and consumption patterns monitoring, data normalization and preprocessing, implementation of central, core services, etc.

Luis Búrdalo

Luis Búrdalo has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (Universitat Politècnica de València) and Computer Science Engineer (Universitat Politècnica de València). Currently leading the R+D+i Department and the Artificial Intelligence Team in S2 Grupo. Previously worked 4 years as a Software Engineer in Sistel Banda S.A., collaborating in de development of MAC and L2 layers of an LTE full stack. Also worked 10 years as a researcher in the Department of Computer systems and Computation of the Universitat Politècnica de València in the fields of Multiagent Systems and Real Time Systems.

José I. García

José I. García is a professional with a long and recognized career in the management of technology companies, specialized in the development and marketing of new products and services in the field of access control systems - video door entry, digital video transmission and image processing, telecommunications, GPS location, and cloud services. In charge of multidisciplinary teams (hardware design, embedded software, related management software and mobile applications), in which the adaptation of technology to the needs of users and customers, looking for the right fit in the target market, is a priority above all.

Alejandro Benítez

Alejandro Benítez is a professional with experience in the field of data protection, privacy and information security as well as knowledge in business continuity and National Security Scheme. He has managed implementation projects and data protection audits at different levels, in various sectors, showing full competence. His experience in information security management systems, business continuity and National Security Scheme has always been within supervised work teams. He has specific training in these areas. During his last years, he has been mainly dedicated to project management in the field of security and data protection.

Sergio Zamarripa

Sergio Zamarripa is a Telecommunications Engineer (Universitat Politècnica de València). Working in S2 Grupo since 2010 as analyst/developer and project manager. Currently sub director of the Product Area in the company. He has also big experience in several European and National R+D projects regarding and Industrial Control Systems/Critical Infrastructures Cybersecurity and hybrid security.

Joan Soriano

Joan Soriano is an Expert in Cybersecurity and Threat Hunting. He started in 2016 as an IT Security Analyst for S2 Grupo, in charge of detection and resolution of cybersecurity incidents and Cybersecurity tool deployment. Technical Leader of the Threat Hunting team of the company since 2019. Currently working as head of Innovation in Security in S2 Grupo since 2022.
