EUCAIM is pleased to announce that Sweden has officially joined the list of countries that support a EUCAIM European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) by submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI). Sweden is represented in this process by its Agency for Digital Government (Myndigheten för digital förvaltning – DIGG), further strengthening the EU-wide collaboration around cancer imaging data infrastructure.
This development marks a significant step forward in EUCAIM’s vision to unleash access to at least 60 million cancer medical images across the European Union by 2027, enabling secure, federated data sharing for research and innovation in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
To date, 13 EU Member States have expressed their support for the establishment of a EUCAIM EDIC. The pre-notification for the EDIC application was submitted to the European Commission’s Multi-Country Project (MCP) Accelerator on 21 January 2025, with Spain acting as host country and initial support from France and Latvia.
The inclusion of Sweden via DIGG represents growing momentum for a EUCAIM EDIC, reinforcing its mission to build a trusted, interoperable, and sustainable digital infrastructure for cancer research and health data use across Europe.
